FAQS

Your sleep questions answered

Does Sleep Journey use the Cry it out method?

No.  We don’t believe in closing the door and just let your child cry until they sleep or with no interference from mom and dad. With our approach you are involved in every moment whether it is going in frequently or just be there right next to your baby/child.

How long does it take?

Every baby/child is different, some see results in 3 days and some in two weeks.  Consistency, determination and commitment is what will make it a success. Our program runs over 10-14 days. We encourage you to stay home during that time.

Should I start if my baby is sick?

We suggest waiting until your baby is healthy.  Our children need a lot of attention and love during the time they are sick.

How long is your support?

Our support is ongoing.  Initially you pay for 2 weeks.  BUt we offer guidance and advice after 6 months if you need/want it.

Do you travel for home consultations?

Yes, in South Africa we can travel and come to you.  The travel costs will be discussed with the client.

Experience your Sleep Journey with Mia

Mia has worked with babies and children for almost 5 years. She worked with newborns, multiples, toddlers, preschoolers and everything in between.  Her sleep journey started in 2015 when her daughter was born and she suffered from postnatal depression, quickly she read a lot of books on how to let her daughter sleep and finally chose Dana Obleman, and made her methods her own by teaching her child to sleep – it literally saved her life.  She then trained at a well known baby sleep consultancy in south africa where she was a full time consultant for 2 years.  She and her family moved then to George and she decided to take a break.  She then completed a course or two so that she can stay in the game.

Mia is passionate to help families teach their babies and children to sleep and offer them support and guidance.  She has helped so many families.  She works remotely and can help any one in the world.  She is based in George in the Western Cape, South Africa.

Testimonials

After not sleeping through the night for more than 6 months I thought “maybe this is how it should be”. My husband was the one that said “no this is not normal”…I heard about Mia who has helped multiple moms to get their kids into better sleep habits. From the get go Mia was friendly and approachable – I felt as if I had come to the right place and that I can be honest. She asked me to just fill in one form – and from there she guided us to better sleep (with a routine plan and a nice video). From my 6 month old waking up 5 times a night to only once changed my life!!! She really supported me and encouraged me daily and she replied to all my messages (day and night). I am so thankful for her – it is worth every cent… you make an investment …into your child and your own sleep!”

“Mia has helped our family enormously! We have been working with Mia since our baby was 9 months old. He is now 18 months old and went through another difficult sleep challenge. With her gentle plan she gave us in only a few days we saw real improvement and she gave great advise when we saw any hiccups. I could not recommend Mia enough, she is so lovely to communicate with and so helpful.”

“Mia het my met albei my dogtertjies – wie in retrospek verskillend voel oor slaap – gehelp. Elkeen van hulle se sleep journey verskil, maar albei slaap. Hulle slaap enige plek vir ten minste 10 ure ‘n nag.
Mia is briljant!
Dankie Mia!!!”

“Mia designed a gentle sleep training plan according to our family’s needs. Within 3 days our little guy was able to fall asleep with other caregivers than mom alone and night wakings reduced from 7+ to 3 (at 6 months old), sleep stretches from 2 hours to 7!!!! and day sleeps from 30 mins to 2.5 hours! She was incredibly supportive, understanding, encouraging and responded to (countless!) messages within a short time frame to give practical and immediate advice (while other sleep trainers limit the amount of questions one is allowed to ask). We are incredibly impressed and thankful!!!!!!”
